Digital photography offers these advantages over film:
These advantages are HUGE! - and because of them, only a very few professional photographers are still using film. Film has served us well over the past 100 or so years - but the above advantages just simply favor digital technology.
Ansel Adams, a truly great photographic artist and technician of the twentieth century, in his biography wrote - that his prints represented the ultimate in quality at the time they were printed but in twenty years electronic scanning techniques would yield improvements over his original work. Adams passed away in 1984, just two years before Kodak produced the first megapixel camera. Twenty years - 1984 to 2004 - what a prophecy! Wouldn't it be interesting to witness Adams at work in todays digital darkroom?
The following Digital Effects Gallery ... show examples of how digital technology can be used to create and enhance photographic images.
